Granger Drive Bridge over Steinhatchee River Bridge Replacement
Overview

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is conducting a Project Development & Environment (PD&E) study to replace the Granger Drive bridge (No.384096) over the Steinhatchee River in Taylor County, Florida.

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is currently conducting a Project Development & Environment (PD&E) study to evaluate the proposed replacement of the Granger Drive bridge. During the PD&E study, design options are developed and evaluated based on the social, economic, and environmental effects of the improvements. Safety needs and public input are also evaluated. Once all the information has been gathered and analyzed FDOT recommends a design option to move forward for construction.

The Granger Drive bridge is currently a single-lane timber bridge over a tributary of the Steinhatchee River. Constructed in 1989, the bridge connects the two unpaved segments of Granger Drive. In 2019, the bridge was closed due to significant deterioration of the bridge substructure.

This PD&E study is proposing to replace the existing bridge with a single-lane cast-in-place concrete bridge as shown below. The proposed bridge will increase the horizontal and vertical clearance underneath the bridge and allow large boats to pass underneath it.
