13th Street (U.S. 441) at SW 22nd Ave Proposed Median Modifications
Overview

Haven Campus Communities is a proposed development on SW 13th Street at SW 22nd Avenue that includes 466 student bedrooms within 171 apartment units. Haven Campus Communities proposes an access connection to the existing median opening, which does not meet current spacing requirements.

To meet current spacing requirements, FDOT proposes modifying the current median opening to a directional median opening that would allow northbound and southbound left-turns from 13th Street but restricts left-turns onto 13th Street. Left-turn restrictions can improve safety because cars must turn right and make a U-turn at the next median opening.

FDOT is seeking input from property owners who may be impacted by the proposed changes. If you would like to comment on the proposed median modifications, please send your comments to Permit manager Adam Doyle (352) 381-4308 Adam.Doyle@dot.state.fl.us or by traditional mail at 5301 NE 39th Avenue, Gainesville, FL 32609. Public comments regarding the proposed median modifications will be accepted through August 30, 2021. Mail-in comments must be postmarked on or before August 30, 2021
