King Street (State Road 5A) at State Road A1A Drainage
Overview
The drainage improvement project in downtown St. Augustine includes replacing and adding up to a 60” diameter drainpipe on SR 5A (King Street) and SR A1A (Avenida Menendez) and up to the Bay Wall. Project improvements also include constructing a concrete masonry wall system, new timber pergola, metal and concrete stanchions with guard railing, curb and gutter, sidewalks/bicycle path, lighting, asphalt resurfacing, and other incidental construction. New landscaping will be installed in the area once the project is completed. Drivers can expect detours in the immediate area on weekdays as the project enters its final phases near the end of the year 2023. See ‘Documents’ tab for detailed information on detours.

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) will host a construction open house for the King Street (State Road 5A) at Avenida Menendez (State Road A1A) drainage improvement project Tuesday, April 18 at the St. Augustine City Hall, City Commission Room, 75 King Street. The informal open house will give the public the opportunity to learn about the upcoming project and discuss details with FDOT staff and engineers.
